01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Stepping past the noren curtain of Kyoraku, tucked along an alley in Ginza 2-chome, guests are greeted by the gentle aroma of simmering dashi broth. The signature chuka soba features an orthodox soy sauce soup where chicken bones and meat stocks blend seamlessly with the umami of dried sardines and seafood. Light yet layered with deep flavor, it pairs naturally with smooth, straight noodles that lift just enough soup with every bite.

Among the toppings, the finely sliced bamboo shoots (takenoko menma) enjoy an enthusiastic following for their savory marinade and pleasant, crisp crunch. Regulars frequently gravitate toward the Takenoko Soba or ask for an extra portion of bamboo shoots. For a heartier meal, the Chashu Wonton Men is a favorite choice, pairing slick wontons filled with peppery pork and house-made chashu that releases savory juices with each bite.

A raw egg can also be ordered on the side, beaten in its dish to dip noodles and toppings sukiyaki-style. Those looking for a lighter visit or a casual drink can opt for broth bowls without noodles, such as the wonton or chashu wonton, accompanied by a plate of sliced chashu and a cold bottled beer.

Seating includes both counter stools and tables in an unpretentious, relaxed room where solo diners feel entirely at ease. Payment is accepted in cash only, so having bills or coins on hand before arriving makes for a seamless visit.
